Why did I start Knock Knock Fitness ?

Hello my name is Jennifer MacDonald (maiden name Malyk), Personal Trainer and proud owner of Knock Knock Fitness. I was born and raised in St. Catharines and now currently live in Burlington, Ontario. Upon graduating high school I knew health & science was my passion. I attended Wilfrid Laurier University to earn my honours degree in Kinesiology from 2004-2008. I volunteered as an Athletic Therapist’s assistant with the rugby teams and worked in the clinic. I became CanFitPro certified in 2005 and have enhanced my knowledge with multiple certifications since (listed below).
Having a passion for knowledge of the body I realized there is much more to proper health and improved quality of life than working out at a gym. Taking the Darby Training Systems course in 2011 certified me in physical assessment and individualized program design with an update course in 2013. This was what drove me to want to start Knock Knock Fitness and train people in their homes. I realized being motivated by machines in an enclosed area, surrounded by strangers to stay fit does not keep us going every day. We need to structure our fitness around stuff we love- family, friends, our home. To ensure we stay committed to our goals.

Knock Knock Fitness was created to ensure other women have the support they deserve with the quality of care that is required. We all have goals and do our best to achieve them on our own, but let’s be honest, sometimes accountability and motivation lacks, therefore personal goals fall to the side. Knock Knock Fitness
 will not let anything fall, we set you up for success. Whether its weight loss, increasing physical fitness, or maintaining activities of daily living, we work together to reach those goals and guarantee that they will be accomplished!

I bring all the equipment to the comfort of your home for your training sessions and create fitness plans customized to meet your needs.

The activities I currently enjoy for leisure are:
Yoga - because everyone needs some time to breathe, stretch, and embrace their energy/spirit, even if only for a minute per day
Travel - because to read about culture, food, or exotic areas does not seem to get me anywhere. I need to 'see it to believe it'. I am very lucky to have traveled to 28 countries in my wee 30 years.
Photography - capturing life in a photo leaves trails for our loved ones to appreciate in the years after us. So take too many pictures and print them for a box that can be found 100 years from now. You never know how life is going to change and adapt itself for our future selves.
Spending time with my family - I know everyone says this, but I HAVE THE BEST FAMILY IN THE WORLD! I do. I look forward to meeting all of yours as we improve your health and fitness, but my family is superb.
