Pre & Post Natal Training

Pregnancy provides women with a genuine motivation to begin or continue an exercise program. However, once the baby is born the mother tends to focus her attention to the child and forget about herself. Therefore fitness and healthy habits pre pregnancy is just as important as post pregnancy.

Similar to our At Home Personal Training Program, an initial consultation is required. Jennifer will examine the background information and assess the current lifestyle of the client before proceeding with a fitness schedule. This will consist of: general information, health & medical background, body composition, personal goals/needs/priorities, review of current level of fitness, physical assessment and an individualized program designed specifically for the client.

"I wanted the kind of workout that would change as my body changed, that would help me deal with the new aches and pains that I was feeling, and most importantly I wanted to be able to push out my baby as quickly and painlessly as possible!  I realized that I needed more than a new workout routine; I needed a new lifestyle routine. It was by chance that I walked into Jennifer Malyk’s life but it was one of the best things that ever could have happened to me and my daughter...  I could tell immediately that she was someone with a lot of knowledge and interest in my pregnancy that would help me feel my best.  When I explained what I was looking for she immediately started me on a regimen that improved my flexibility, increased my core strength, and had me strengthening the muscles that I would be using for child birth.  Immediately I began seeing a difference in my body and energy level.  I was sleeping better through the night and increasing my muscle tone.  I was never worried about being stuck in a chair or not being able to stand up on my own. Jennifer had worked hard to ensure that my body would be able to support my growing belly and everything else that comes with being pregnant.  We also worked on increasing my arm strength so that I would be able to handle all new obstacles that would face me such as carrying the baby in the heavy car seat, with a full diaper bag and still be able to get the front door unlock without having the wind knocked out of me.  I was also worried about how breastfeeding would affect my body, so we began implementing different weight training exercises to help decrease the risk of sagging.  It was very easy to discuss any concerns or fears I had, there was no judgment, no question that couldn’t be asked (even when it comes to Kegel exercises).  There is no question that it is because of Jennifer and the dedication she puts into her work that I had such a remarkable birthing experience and recovery.  I never had an opportunity to feel ashamed or depressed about how I looked after giving birth because Jennifer was always there reassuring me that I was making such great progress.

It really helped having someone hold me accountable to my exercise and eating habits.  I knew she would ask me everyday “what have you eaten today?” or “how much water have you had?”  It was this one on one attention that made me stop and realize that I hadn’t had enough water or needed to add more vegetables to my diet.  She took not only an interest in my body but my mind as well.  Encouraging me to get off the couch and ensuring I take time for me as well.  My first year as a mother has been such a joy and I owe a large portion of that to the time and effort that Jennifer Malyk has put into being my personal trainer and my friend. "
